"Designing" the future
Two organizations with common visions and high goals join forces and lay the foundations for a creative future.
The Circular Economy Laboratory of the Municipality of Piraeus Piraeus Maker Space and the Center for Research, Development and Education of Packaging, Printing and Graphic Communication PackPrint Science co-organized on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, an evening in which exactly what is mentioned in the purposes of these two organizations was analyzed.
The topic was "Graphic Arts, Printing, Packaging: Implementing the Circular Economy in Practice - Prospects and Job Opportunities for Young People".
In the amphitheater of the former SKYP on 95 Athinon Piraeus Avenue Many Graphic Arts students from SAEK gathered to listen to the speakers and learn about the professional prospects that open up in this field.
The event began with the greeting of the Deputy Mayor of Planning and Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Piraeus, Mr. Dimitris Karydis.
The speakers followed, each of whom developed a particular aspect of the issues.
- The representative of the label manufacturer Forlabels, Mr. Dimitris Kotsiviros, spoke about the label and how a young person can find the job that will pique their interest. He also presented a video in which three employees of the company talked about their work, their development and their prospects.
- Mr. Markos Malliaris, scientific associate of the company LM eco, which deals with the circular economy of liquid food packaging and silicone paper (the paper on which the self-adhesive labels are glued), spoke about the new products that result from the aforementioned materials after their use and gave samples to those present.
- A representative of classical typography, Mr. Tasos Pallas from the company Palla Bros. Graphic Arts, explained to the students that today's printing presses do not require hands dipped in ink. On the contrary, they require people with very good knowledge of computers. And such people are the young, as he emphasized.
- A last-minute problem prevented the Doctor of Graphic Arts Technology of the PADA, Mr. Marios Tsigonias, from attending. He was duly replaced by the doctoral candidate, Mrs. Andriani Goutou, who, using her personal career as a "pilot", spoke about the unknown specialties and prospects that exist in the field.
- The last speaker was the Scientific Director of PackPrint Science, Dr. Anastasios Politis, who spoke about the seminars that PackPrint Science has planned and the subjects with which it will deal in the immediate future. Some of these will be done with the assistance of the Municipality of Piraeus.
All speakers emphasized to the students that businesses in the field need specialized partners and invited them to do their internship in companies in the sector and to seek the specialty that interests them.
